Look Out World…..

I have passed my motorcycle safety course. Once I get the endorsement on my license, I will be STREET LEGAL! Yeah, you should be scared.

The funny thing is the more I learn, the more I need to learn. Ignorance really is bliss. It’s scary out there. I’m thinking, how hard could this be. Yeah…. it’s not that it’s hard, but everyone is stupid and I need to watch out for them. I’m going to need to do a lot of riding to get some confidence up on the roads around here.

Jeff and I did a victory lap tonight, and while it was all of the same skills i learned in class, having other cars and trucks on the road, while trying to remember what to do and what not to do and do it at road speed took a bit of concentration. I’m glad I live in a rural area where I can get my feet wet a little bit at a time, rather than trying to pull out in traffic. It’s going to be a while until I’m read to even take an easy ride with the local MC club, but I want to make sure I get out often to grow those skills, even if it is a few miles at a time.

What a……

Month, Week, Day? Take your pick. Yesterday was Jeff’s last day of work. (YAY JEFF). Today I’m having a party for him, this morning I took my first day of the riding portion of the motorcycle class. I passed the written portion last weekend. By noon tomorrow, I’ll have my endorsement and will be legal to be on the bike.

The state chick was observing the class and critiquing the instructors. Based on what she was saying to Jeff, I should have no problems with passing the riding portion. Jeff said she was just all complimentary of my riding. So YAY ME! Can’t wait to get it finished so I can ride my bike and start putting some hours on it.

Next week, we’re driving up to PA for a wedding, after finding an apartment in Greenville. I’m keeping the faith this house will sell, but I don’t know when that will be. We may need to consider renting it out first. We’ll have to talk about that on the way up and that will help us decide how long of a lease we should get on Jeff’s apartment. That is just an ugly situation, I won’t be able to move until we get tenants in here, I don’t want carry the house and a more expensive rental fee. Probably six months will give us what we need to know in terms of budgeting and locale. I’m hoping that after the election things will start to turn around a bit.

So, I have an hour before our guests are too arrive. Time to throw another load of laundry in.

The Escape – Part I

And its official, the escape has begun!

I’m so proud of the hubster. It’s a great opportunity, I think he’s going to do a fantastic job. Now the work for me begins. I’m trying to sort through the budget, where we find him housing, what do we need to do to sell this house.  I’ll be very happy when I can post The Escape – Part II! In the meantime, we’re going back to the long distance relationship, and will be putting miles on our cars going back and forth. Thank goodness it stays light later, I think I’ll be working on mowing the lawn in some of the evenings – Yay for riding mowers, now I just need a tutorial on how to start the darn thing. I tell ya this much, it’s a heck of a lot better to mow the grass than blow the snow.

I’m throwing a part on the 26th to celebrate the end of Jeff’s employment!! YAY – Changes! YAY – new job! YAY – new town! YAY YAY YAY

Seriously, please…..

I needed a long weekend. Its not like I’ve been balls to the walls busy or working crazy hours, but mentally, I just needed that break. I thought we could enjoy a long weekend, take the bike out, test out our intercom system (yeah, Jeff’s bike rocks), but it’s been raining every day for the last month. It’s not been all day everyday, but it has been at the more ‘convenient’ times.

Friday we thought we’ll sneak out to lunch on the bike and get home before late afternoon, that should be safe, right? Yeah, right – we managed to skirt the downpour, but we did get wet. We were going to take it out yesterday, but the sky looked menacing. Glad we didn’t, it POURED. Of course, it was over by the time we finished lunch, so we did make our trip to Target without getting soaked.

Today they were calling for a 70% chance of rain. Considering the storms we saw with a 40% chance, I figured a 70% chance was going to bring a hurricane. It was a beautiful day, sunny skies, fluffy white clouds, picture perfect! Jeff pressure washed the pool deck. He’s been grumbling about needing to mow the grass, but with the rain, the yard is just soaked. About 5 minutes ago, he decided that it probably would be a good idea and we was going to take advantage of the day of sun that dried out the yard – somewhat.

I hadn’t even heard the mower start before I heard the thunder! Seriously, please, can we have just one day without rain so we can get the outdoor chores finished and maybe take a ride? Please? Pretty please? At this point, Jeff is just going to go head to head with mother nature, he’s mowing!
