Chaos is ending

General No Comments

So the chaos is ending. We’re getting things put back together. I think by tomorrow I can sweep finally. The craft room needs a little work yet. I need to do more ruthless purging from there and from my office closet. That will be the next project. i just want to get the house swept again so I can tell Dana to start showing it again.

Tea is such a civilized experience

I love afternoon tea. I don’t quite remember where I first had tea, but it’s been something I’ve enjoyed. It’s so unrushed and civilized. I mentioned it to my friend Jen and was happy to find out, she enjoyed it as well - so Saturday we met like two gracious ladies would do and had afternoon tea.

Serenity Gardens is near downtown West Palm Beach. It’s a cute little old house. They have outdoor seating as well as all of the rooms inside. The place is decorated with all sorts of eclectic items. Hats are around some of the door frames, a wedding dress was hanging on the wall.

We started with soup, followed by finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and finally deserts. All served with a pot of tea. We both had vanilla tea. It tasted like I was drinking a hot vanilla milkshake.

We took our time, chatted, just enjoyed each others company. It was a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon. I’m looking forward to doing it again and trying a different tea shop.

Living in Chaos

Yes, here is a good example of living chaos. It’s our living room. Boxes everywhere. This is worse than moving.

I have my office back together. I’ll have pictures of that when it’s really neat. The one good thing is that this is helping us get rid of crap that we really didn’t need in the first place. Jeff has a huge pile of clothes to give away. I’ll probably find some stuff to put on ebay.

Half & Half

So here we have our carpet - half one color, half another. Yes, it’s subtle and if it were two different rooms you wouldn’t able to tell, but side by side it’s pretty obvious.

The adventure continues…….

SO, the house is still trashed. Can only do so much after working all day. The carpet dudes left around 10:45ish. After I get off of my conference call, i go and look at my new carpet. The back bedroom, my stamping room looks great. The spare bedroom looks great. The closet in the sparebedroom has a different color of carpet. Whoa, back that up - yes, the closet in the spare bedroom has a different color carpet. It wasn’t a huge difference and if you weren’t looking at them side by side, you might not even be able to tell, but laid right next to each other - yes there is a color difference. So needless to say I wasn’t happy, but it was only a closet, so….. then I go into my office. They had to seam a 2 ft wide piece down the length of my office - you guessed it, the same color as the carpet in the closet, which was not the same color as the rest of the carpet in the office. Again, wouldn’t be a huge difference if it wasn’t side by side.

Turns out the two rolls they used in the house had two different dialog numbers. It was the same color, but it came off of a different run, so there would be a slight color variation. They used most of one roll in our master bedroom - yes, the same roll they cut the strip and the closet from. They used the other roll to do the rest of the house. So yes, the master bedroom has a slightly different shade.

I immediately called Lowe’s - and amazingly enough the chick came up to look at it right away. Turns out she already knew about it, turns out the installer called the store and told them about the problem. HELLO - why didn’t you tell me?!!?!?!? You knew it was a different color, you knew it wasn’t going to go over well, but yet you didn’t bother to tell the customer! So they are going to have to redo the office and the closet. Goodness only knows when they’ll get the carpet and be out here to install it. So consequentally - i can’t do without an office and I can’t continue to work on my bed, my stamp room is going to become my office, my bonus room in my masterbedroom will now be my craft room, my office will become Jeff’s train room.

I’m very very tired and I’m very ver frustrated.

Chaos

House Selling No Comments

The painter started last Thursday. He finished Wednesday. So in order for him to paint we moved everything to the centers of the room. It was chaos. So Wednesday night the carpet people called, they were going to be here today. More chaos ensued as we tried to move things out of the carpeted room to the tiled rooms. I had a full day of meetings. Work is really intense right now and I should be working into the evening. I couldn’t do much last night after moving boxes and furniture. Tonight I had to dismantle my office, for that’s what they are going to work on tomorrow. And I have another full day of meetings tomorrow. I’m going to work from bed tomorrow. That will be fun to say anyway.

I am exhausted and if I thought it was chaos before, i didn’t know what chaos was. I’ll post pictures when I find my card reader or a usb cable to jack my camera into my laptop. Right now I don’t know where anything is. It’s going to take me weeks to put this place back together and find everything. This is worse than moving. At least with moving I have someone professional put things in marked boxes. This is total chaos. I’m glad the weekend is coming. I’ll have some time to get some work done and put the house back together.

The part of the house they have finished looks pretty good. The carpet is gray, but almost has a mauvish hue to it. I think it looks nice. I like fresh carpet. I can’t wait for these dudes to finish and be out of my house. They didn’t sweep the rooms when they finished, just moved furniture back, so i’m going to have to move things again and sweep up the carpet lint. Lots of work to do.

The paint looks okay. There are some brush strokes on the trim. The carpet guys dinged the walls in a couple of places already. Frustrating, but I’m sure its going to get dinged more. With the new paint and carpet, the wallpaper in the bedroom looks yellowish now. If we sell, great - i don’t need to worry about it. if we decide not to sell, I’m going to do something with that wallpaper. Depending on how much it annoys me, I may do something sooner, rather than later. Now I know why one small project tends to lead to a complete remodel.

Diving

you know, spending a Sunday under water is a beautiful way to spend the day. We went out in the morning and the conditions were great. On the way out I saw flying fish. Now I’ve heard of flying fish, but I didn’t really think they flew. You know what, they really really do!

We didn’t get any lobster on our first dive. I got one lobster on our 2nd dive. I had to pull that sucker out with my hands. Guess I was lucky there wasn’t anything else in that hole.

Rex did really well. He got 13 total, a couple of them were quite the nice size. The season ends at the end of the month, so there is one more weekend left to get those elusive bugs.

On the way back we saw a pod of dolphin. That was so cool, they weren’t that far off shore, jumping out of the water. I wish we could have been closer and I could have gotten in the water with them. That would have been cool, but I was happy to have at least seen them.  It was a great way to spend the day.

Easter Egg Theme

Ok - so I’ve been fooling around with the style sheet for my blog and I have my easter theme. It’s a little wild right now, but now I’ve finally figured out what all of the components are!  WOOHOO.

We’re going diving tomorrow - another WOOHOO. Gotta be at the boat at 9am, ready to go. Glad it’s Rex. I like diving with him. I hope there are still some lobster to be found down there. The season ends soon. That reminds me, better grab my lobster license. Wouldn’t want to get them and then not have it on me.

I did some work today. I’m glad it’s the weekend. I’m going to have to do more tomorrow night when we get back. I’m really liking not traveling and working from home. I’m also liking my new blackberry. That is the coolest little gadget. I may have to look at what it would cost to cancel my verizon service, or look at an even lower rate plan. I think I’m going to be using my blackberry more than my verizon phone now.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Oh thank goodness it’s Friday. It was a long week. I’m going to be working this weekend, but not doing what I thought I was going to be doing. Now I have another bad email to write. Eh, mistakes happen and it’s only a job.

The painter has been painting this week - actually just thursday and friday. He may or may not be here tomorrow. Jeff thinks he has two days of work left. I think he only has one day of work left. We’ll see. The house is a mess now. I hope the carpet people can come next week and get the carpet in. They haven’t called back yet. It would be nice to get it all done and put the furniture back.

I’m getting my hair done tomorrow. It’s time. I’m hoping maybe we can go diving on Sunday.

I hate having my house unsettled like this. I will have to put the furniture back until the carpet people get here. I can’t live like this.

I need to order more contacts tomorrow. I also need to get my passport renewed. It expires in April.

I’ve got two project plans to work on tomorrow. To much to do!!

Oh a little bit of everything….

I watched Smokey and the Bandit tonight - I still like that movie. They should have never made two more. I don’t know who thought that could be a good idea. It wasn’t.

I went out to write with Krista today. We talked, we didn’t write. She wrote after I left and I wrote after I left, but nothing together. We need to get it together again.

I got rear ended today - I was on my way home from the gym. It was only a little bump, but I got the guys insurance information. I was watching my rear view mirror when he hit me, I watched him shake his head and say oh shit. He kept apologizing. Poor kid. He lives in the area. I could tell how badly he felt. I’m just glad it was only a bump. I didn’t want to have to do the police report and insurance stuff.
